According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s current plan for the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam is Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley.
Meltzer states that when Lashley signed with WWE, he was under the impression that this match was on the table, obviously as a selling point.
However, Lesnar is not signed through WWE SummerSlam at this time, so this match and Lesnar’s WWE future is still in question. As for Lesnar’s contract, Meltzer has noted on several occasions that he is signed on a per-appearance deal, meaning that Brock’s obligation to the company comes in intervals and also allows him to perform outside the company (i.e. UFC).
WWE SummerSlam will take place August 19, 2018 and for the fourth consecutive year, will take place at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY.
