According to a report by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE and Rey Mysterio have been in talks about a possible return to the company.
The report states that Mysterio and WWE have been going back and forth for months trying work out terms of a deal. It’s said that Mysterio doesn’t want to work a full-time schedule, but WWE is insistent on Mysterio joining the main roster on a weekly (or at least semi-weekly) basis. Apparently talks have ramped up and the report claims that we could see Mysterio in WWE as soon as September.
We last saw Rey Mysterio in WWE at the 2018 Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant, in which he received an incredible reaction from the fans in attendance.
Mysterio is currently working on the independent circuit, most recently being a part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Dominion show this past weekend. At this time, it’s unclear what the rest of Mysterio’s 2018 will look like.
