On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that the original plan for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 was to go one-on-one with the current SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon.

Many top officials in creative really pushed for Shane O’Mac vs. Brock Lesnar, but in the end, Vince McMahon felt like Goldberg would be a much better opponent for the Beast Incarnate in Orlando, Florida.

According to Meltzer, there is a certain level of politics around this decision, as many of the same people who pushed for Shane vs. Lesnar, are the ones who were totally against the short finish at Survivor Series with Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg. Vince in that situation was on his own for the most part on that decision as well.

So, that being said, it appears Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar is a “go” for WrestleMania 33.

At this time, there is no word yet on who or if Shane McMahon will be wrestling at WrestleMania 33. Some have speculated Dean Ambrose using the finish to the cross-brand Survivor Series Elimination match as a motive. While others have stated that perhaps Shane McMahon fights The Miz on behalf of Daniel Bryan.
