WWE SMACKDOWN aired on Thursday night in America, or Friday night over here in the UK (for the last time though!) Here’s what went down, and the rating:

Kevin Owens defeated Cesaro

Owens3

Owens got a roll-up pin win on Cesaro, who was distracted by ringside shenanigans involving The Miz and Sami Zayn in the opening Smackdown match.

Rating: 8/10 – I’m really, REALLY into this feud and on Sunday, the Intercontinental Title will be the show stealing match. This was a pretty good match too.

Dana Brooke defeated Paige

dana-brooke

A quick match as Dana Brooke continued her winning streak with a win over Paige. Becky Lynch was ringside with the Smackdown commentary team for this bout.

Rating: 5.5/10 – not a great match. But not a bad one either, was solid. Just looking forward to seeing where Dana will go with Emma been out with an injury.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Sheamus

Ziggler-2016

After Ziggler got the win, Baron Corbin appeared to trash-talk the Show-Off about how he’s going to get an ass-kicking at Extreme Rules on Sunday.

Rating: 7/10 – Good to see Ziggler getting a win as that doesn’t happen often. Baron Corbin’s interference was good as well. These 2 will face off on Sunday at Extreme Rules.

Chris Jericho was in the ring

Jericho

And he was there to cut a promo on Dean Ambrose, while the Ambrose Asylum cage hung over him. A cage which began to lower down on Jericho, as Ambrose shed his disguise as a ring crew worker and pounced on Y2J with a kendo stick.

Rating: 7/10 – storyline getting a little boring but they also keep introducing new things to make it interesting.

Big Cass and The New Day defeated The Vaudevillains and The Dudley Boyz

The New Day WWE 2016

The big tag team match ended with Big Cass securing a pinfall victory on Bubba Ray Dudley.

Rating: 6.5/10 – again, solid match. Nothing groundbreaking though.

Roman Reigns vs. Luke Gallows ended in a DQ

Roman-Reigns-vs-AJ-Styles-WWE-Payback

As usual, chaos broke out between The Club and The Usos. Referees attempted to pull Karl Anderson, AJ Styles and The Usos apart, until only Styles was left in the ring with Reigns. Reigns grabbed a steel chair, but Styles landed a Pele kick on him and proceeded to demolish his spine, ending Smackdown with the phenomenal one standing tall before this Sunday’s Extreme Rules event.

Rating: 9/10 – anything can happen on Sunday and this was a preview, it’ awesome!

Overall rating: 8/10- thoroughly enjoyed Smackdown this week. Hoping for more!
