With the 1,000th episode of SmackDown getting closer and closer, the names keep on coming!

According to a report via PWInsider.com, WWE currently has plans to have Rey Mysterio return to the company at SmackDown 1000. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 16 from Washington D.C. at the Capital One Arena.

As previously reported by several news outlets, Mysterio just recently signed a new WWE contract, that is reportedly a 2-year deal. It’s also said that the deal has an opt-out option, which can be invoked at the 18 month mark for either side.

Mysterio hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since The Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia in April. Mysterio has also been featured as a pre-order bonus character for the upcoming, “WWE 2K19” video game.

At this time, it is unclear what Mysterio’s role will be on the SmackDown 1000 show or if he’ll remain on the blue brand.
