According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kurt Angle was one of many names that the company considered to replace Roman Reigns, including former WWE Champion Chris Jericho. But, due to his schedule with Fozzy and his book promotion, he could not attend the show. The list also included several superstars from SmackDown LIVE, but WWE ultimately landed on Angle as the best choice.

The report also states that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar was never considered as a replacement, contradicting rumors that swirled this week.
