PWP Nation’s Caden Moran returns with “Personal Opinions” to give his thoughts on the current state of professional wrestling and why there is no room for negativity.

Professional wrestling is one of the greatest things in the world, especially in the year of 2019.

With the rise of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on the horizon following Double or Nothing and Fyter Fest, there is no better time to be a fan of the sport.

However, even with the positive potential AEW has shown since the start of the year, there seems to be more negativity around the world of professional wrestling than ever before.

In a time where social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram are used for people to express their opinions, it’s nearly impossible to avoid the outrageous and ridiculous views certain people hold.

For example, ever since AEW came into existence at the start of the year, social media has been nothing but a war between WWE and AEW “marks”. Personally, I love having instant interaction with other wrestling fans through social media. However, over the past few weeks, it has become one of the worst experiences.

I can understand both sides. WWE’s product has been stagnant and suffering that has continued to push viewers away. Meanwhile, AEW has put on three stellar shows that gives fans hope for the future and for competition.

On the other side, AEW isn’t on television yet so it’s difficult to gauge whether or not they can be proper competition. WWE will always be a juggernaut with the best talent in the world. Judging whether or not a start-up can be competition for the biggest promotion in the world isn’t something that can be determined at this moment in time.

I am not here to pick a definitive side because there isn’t a point. Professional wrestling is currently at its peak, so why argue and fight about that?

With WWE, AEW, New Japan, Ring of Honor, Impact and various independent promotions all thriving in their own ways, there should be zero negativity.

There is something out there for every wrestling fan. For those who want traditional entertainment with easy access, there’s WWE. For those who want something fresh with fresh talent and matches, there’s AEW. And for those who want a hard hitting and cringe-inducing experience, there’s New Japan.

Every promotion has their own way of standing out and making themselves appealing. Competition to outdo one another is healthy. Unnecessary negativity because you don’t like what a certain promotion does or who they push is not.

I should mention that we don’t have to be entirely positive. We can have negative opinions and conversations, but only focusing on the downsides of things has made the online interaction among fans unbearable.

Just take a look at the recent interactions between WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay on Twitter and how fans responded. You’ll see what I mean.

The state of professional wrestling is in a good place. There appears to be more competition brewing and the latter half of 2019 is sure to be a ton of fun. However, the negativity among fans has reached a level of ugly that is not needed.

Wrestling is fun. Why should the conversations and interactions we have with other fans be any different?
