Paige appeared at a recent Comic Con and was asked about the term “Diva.” In the past, Paige has stated how she wanted to change the term “Diva” when describing the women who wrestle in WWE. Fans have also been vocal in the past saying that the term is demeaning to the roster of women. Here is a direct quote from Paige:
“As much as before I came here I was like ‘I wanna change that’. When you think about a WWE Diva, you think of us girls in WWE, not like the girls that are in the indies, the girls in TNA or in other different companies. So yeah, the word Diva means a lot to me. Just redesign the Diva belt, because that butterfly sucks.”
What do you think about the term “diva” when describing the women who wrestle under the WWE banner? Is it just marketing or is it meant to be a degrading term towards women?
