Earlier today, we reported that newly-crowned WWE SmackDown LIVE Women’s Champion Asuka would defend her title against Becky Lynch at WWE Royal Rumble.
This news came after a graphic was displayed on WWE programming showing said match would take place.
Since then, former SmackDown LIVE General Manager Paige took to Twitter to say that the match is not happening after all:
Soooo I tried to make one last match before my time as #SDLive GM came to end…but unfortunately @BeckyLynchWWE vs. @WWEAsuka for the Smackdown Women’s Championship is NOT official for #RoyalRumble. #Oops

So at this time, it’s unclear if this match has now been cancelled or WWE would like to announce this match at a later date.
