PWP Nation’s Derron Browning is excited for a Kevin Owens title run, but begs the question: what now?

At WWE Night of Champions, Kevin Owens defeated Ryback to become the new Intercontinental Champion. I strongly believe that Owens can give the championship much needed credibility. However, Owens needs suitable challengers.

Here is a list of challengers whom I think would fit that bill:

Ryback

Ryback already has lost the championship, we already know there will be a rematch. The question is: when will it happen?  I say at Hell in a Cell.

Chris Jericho

We all know that on October 3rd, Chris Jericho will face Kevin Owens one on one at the Network Special from Madison Square Garden, but why not put the title on the line? What a nice feather to the cap of the current Intercontinental Champion to beat the most prolific Intercontinental Champion of all time at “The World’s Most Famous Arena”?

Yes, there will be 2 title matches at the MSG special, why not a third? Plus, it’ll be a way to maximize using Jericho as he is only wrestling house shows.

Daniel Bryan

In case you have forgotten earlier this year, Daniel Bryan had to surrender the Intercontinental Title, due to injury. You have a built in story here with Bryan regaining the championship, that he truly never lost.

However, the jury is still out on if WWE doctors will ever clear Bryan. If the doctors do so, we know these two will have a great match.

Sami Zayn

If I were responsible for the booking on the main roster, I would book Owens as a strong heel champion, defeating all comers. At the Royal Rumble, Sami Zayn returns with one purpose; to eliminate Kevin Owens.

Zayn throws him out and revives their feud that started late last year. This time, the two have a new prize to feud over in the Intercontinental Championship. Zayn and Owens going at it at WrestleMania for the IC Title has the potential to be the best IC Championship match since Savage/Steamboat at WrestleMania 3.

In conclusion, I think that Owens has the potential to not be just a great Intercontinental champ but make the title relevant again. However, it is all in the booking. The United States and Tag Titles are getting legs under them again, it’s time for the IC Title to follow suit.
