Earlier today, we learned that Shelton Benjamin will not be returning to WWE programming due to a shoulder injury that needs surgery. This comes after WWE SmackDown LIVE has been promoting his return for weeks. With Benjamin gone, it appears that WWE is still pursuing former talents to make a return to the company.

A name that has been thrown around is Hassan Hamin Assad, more known as Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP). According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, at this time, MVP will not be returning to the company. Meltzer did state that someone close to the situation has said that it’s not completely out of the question, but right now it doesn’t look likely. MVP is still taking outside bookings and has insisted he’s not coming back.

Also, former WWE Diva Mickie James has been talked about as another name to be added to the SmackDown LIVE roster. WWE has been teasing her in videos on their YouTube channel and in articles on WWE.com. At this time, there has been no reports of her return, but it’s possible WWE is throwing out feelers to gauge fan support of her coming back.
