Note from the author: “This article was written before rumors of a Ronda Rousey departure arose. The article is based firmly on the idea that Rousey will be around post-WrestleMania.”

WrestleMania season is about to heat up, and one of the hottest superstars in a long, long time is indeed Becky Lynch.

After her character adjustment (I refuse to call it a turn) at SummerSlam, no one has been as over as Lynch has become in recent memory.

As a result, it appears that Lynch will be rewarded with one of the top two WrestleMania main events, rumored to be a triple threat match with Charlotte and Ronda Rousey

So, one would assume with how over Lynch and her “The Man” persona is, that a win at WrestleMania should be automatic. However, it is WrestleMania, I do not see that to be the case at all.

There are multiple factors going into my way of thinking and I just want to state that none of them are because I don’t think she deserves it.

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin didn’t win at WrestleMania 13.

That’s right, let’s not forget that the mold in which Lynch was made from, lost in his first major WrestleMania match.

Austin walked away from the match a made star in one of the most iconic WrestleMania matches ever with Bret Hart. Does the fact that Steve Austin didn’t win change what Austin became following that match? NO! It never did.

Done properly, Lynch could walk out of the match a bigger star than when she walked in, even in a loss. Add in the fact that Charlotte could be in the match, Lynch can be protected from taking the loss herself.

That’s a key point that shouldn’t be overlooked.

The Eventual Redemption Story.

Eventually, there will be a second chapter to the Ronda and Becky story. The obvious payoff would be the WrestleMania loser getting her retribution in the rematch.

Does the redemption story suit Ronda or Becky better? It would be perfect for Becky.

Otherwise, Ronda looking for a second shot at Becky in her own redemption story at (let’s say) SummerSlam, leads to Becky tapping-out clean in the middle of the ring to Ronda. Where would Becky go after that? The story of Becky finally overcoming Ronda (maybe a heel by then), would be gold for Becky.

RAW, The Night After.

As seen on the post Rumble edition of Monday Night RAW, the crowd reactions to Ronda are “changing” to day, at the very least. The post ‘Mania crowd will be much harsher.

So, if they are gonna eat Ronda alive, might as well have her gloat instead of beginning a redemption story.

The Day After Wrestlemania PR tour.

Between ESPN, Good Morning America, TODAY and the countless shows the Champions show up to, there is going to be loads of media coverage for the event and Ronda’s match.

From a mainstream perspective, Ronda is more known and marketable. Ronda doing a New York City media blitz is exactly what WWE wants.

Also in light of Women’s empowerment, and equality, you don’t exactly want to put a woman calling herself “The Man” front and center, regardless if it’s satire or not.

And if Becky can’t be “The Man” character or constantly call herself that, then what does she have? Her original post SummerSlam persona would work, but that version of Lynch has been altered to what she is now.

Charlotte Flair.

While previously I positioned the idea of Charlotte taking the fall to protect Becky, it fits for Charlotte to steal the win.

While Becky and Ronda will be consumed with destroying each other, Charlotte, if she is added to the match, could very easily sneak the win just like she did at SummerSlam that started this Becky character change.

This is an anti-Becky article at all, but it presents the all-to-real side of how the match, no matter how it happens, could go at WrestleMania. And this doesn’t even touch on the clean tap-out to Asuka at the Rumble, and what that could mean in the future.
