The Complete Series on the Grandest Stage: WrestleMania 2

WrestleMania 2 took place on Monday, April 7, 1986, making it the only WrestleMania that was not held on a Sunday. WrestleMania 2 took place at three arenas, the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, the Rosemont Horizon in Illinois, and the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Each arena hosted a one hour portion of the card and had a designated main event.

The main event at Nassau was a boxing match between Mr. T and  Roddy Pipper. T would win the bout by DQ. This was continued from Wrestlemania 1 and the March 1st Saturday Night’s Main Event, where T defeated Bob Orton by DQ in another boxing match.

“Macho Man” Randy Savage vs. George “The Animal” Steele for the Intercontinental Title. Savage retains in a match that came about over Steele’s admiration for Elizabeth.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. George Wells in a rare Wrestlemania squash match, with Roberts winning quickly.

“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff vs. The Magnificent Muraco. A double DQ in the opener. Muraco vs. Ricky Steamboat would of made more sense here.

In Chicago, the Main Event was a rare NFL vs. WWF battle royal. NFL stars like WWE HOFer William Perry, Russ Francis, Bill Fralic and others took on WWF stars like Bruno Sammartino, Big John Studd, and Andre the Giant. Andre would win the battle Royal.

In an underrated classic, The British Bulldogs would capture the WWF tag team titles from The Dream Team of Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Brutus Beefcake. The Bulldogs had Ozzy Ozbourne in their corner.

In a Flag vs. Flag match, Corpl. Kirshner would defeat Nikoli Volkoff.

In a match for the WWF Woman’s Championship, the champion The Fabulous Moolah, would defeat Velvet McIntyre.

In Los Angeles, the main event saw WWF Champion Hulk Hogan return from a vicious injury to defeat King Kong Bundy in a steel cage match. This match came about after the March 1st SNME attack by Bundy on Hogan which sent Hogan to the hospital.

The Funk Brothers, Terry & Dory held off the challenge of The Junkyard Dog & Tito Santana. In a match of super heavyweights, The Adorable Adrian Adonis defeated Uncle Elmer. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat would defeat Hercules in the LA opener.

Could a 3 location Wrestlemania work today?
