Samoa Joe Reportedly Injured; Pulled From WWE Mixed Match Challenge

UPDATE:

In an update provided by WWE, it appears that Samoa Joe has sustained a right foot injury.

Here’s an official quote:

“WWE thanks the WWE Universe for voting to pick Bayley’s partner for WWE Mixed Match Challenge. Unfortunately, the Superstar selected, Samoa Joe, suffered an injury to his right foot on Raw Monday night, he will be unable to compete in the ground-breaking WWE Mixed Match Challenge tournament. Raw General Manager Kurt Angle revealed the news on Facebook. During his match, [Samoa Joe] felt a pop at the bottom of his [right] foot,” explained WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann. “We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a thick tissue rupture under the foot. We will get an MRI to confirm. Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and platelet rich plasma injections. As a result of Joe’s injury, the runner-up in the Facebook vote, Elias, will take Samoa Joe’s place as Bayley’s partner.”

At this time, there is a tentative return timetable of 4-6 weeks.

ORIGINAL:

As WWE continues to announce the teams for the upcoming Facebook Watch web-series “WWE Mixed Match Challenge,” Raw general manager Kurt Angle revealed some sad news earlier today that Samoa Joe has been pulled from the event and will be replaced by Elias.

The reason for this move is reportedly due to Samoa Joe sustaining another injury, which could leave him out of action once again. At this time, there is no word on what Joe’s injury is or how serious, but being pulled from the MMC is not a good sign.

Elias will now be partners with Bayley.

Once PWP Nation knows more, we will update this post. I’d like to point out that the news of an injury is more-so speculation. There is no concrete word on why he’s been pulled from the event.
