UPDATED (1/17/19 — 4:40 PM EST): In an update provided by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the report states that The Revival did ask for their releases.

The request came immediately after The Revival’s win over Lucha House Party on RAW this week while they were still in their ring gear.

In addition to this report, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp clarified some things about his report saying the following:

“[I] was told yesterday morning Revival quit on the spot, but the terminology was phrased in such a way I could hardly report that they’d formally asked for their release. Several wrestlers and employees confirmed that WWE didn’t want to release them and hoped to fix things.”

It should also be noted that despite asking for their releases, it does not mean it will be granted. Meltzer notes that the word going around is that WWE will not be granting releases to any of the rumored names.

ORIGINAL (1/16/19 — 1:42 PM EST): Earlier today, Fightful.com’s Sean Ross Sapp tweeted a cryptic message with the Revival featured in a GIF saying, “top guys, out.”

This led to a lot of speculation as to what the future holds for Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.

Since then, an exclusive report from Fightful.com has broke stating that the company is fearful that both Dawson and Wilder could leave once their contracts are up.

The report does not outright say The Revival asked for their release, which is being widely reported. However, it does say that officials within WWE “[have] reason to be very fearful that The Revival are done or finishing up with the company.”

This is due to an incident that took place backstage between WWE officials and The Revival, according to the report.

Like any report, take this with a grain of salt and let things play out.
