President-Elect Donald Trump Should Appear as a Guest at WrestleMania 33

If you are not fully aware that WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump is the new President-Elect of The United States of America, you’ve been living under a rock.

Not only do we have a WWE Hall of Famer as the new President, but we have a bonafide reality TV icon who has amassed billions of dollars over his career.

As a diehard fan of professional wrestling, I’m excited to have a WWE Hall of Famer & admitted professional wrestling fan in The White House. It is an absolute no-brainer that WWE should make a phone call & get Donald Trump involved in next year’s WrestleMania 33 event in Orlando, Florida.

What many wrestling fans might not know is that Donald Trump has been extremely significant in helping solidify WrestleMania as a major yearly event. His Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey hosted both WrestleMania 4 & 5, the only venue to host back-to-back WrestleMania events. These were extremely high-profile events at the time and were instrumental in the careers of both “Macho Man” Randy Savage Hulk Hogan.

We cannot forget about his contributions to the monumentally successful WrestleMania 23 from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Donald Trump competed in the “Battle of the Billionaires” against WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. Trump was represented by Bobby Lashley & McMahon had the late Umaga doing his dirty work. Oh yeah, let’s not forget that Stone Cold Steve Austin was the Special Guest Referee. The image of Donald Trump shaving Vince McMahon’s head at the conclusion of this match is one of the most famous moments in WWE history.

And how about that time that Donald Trump briefly owned Raw & put on a highly entertaining commercial-free edition? (Kayfabe, of course, as he sold the company back to Vince McMahon weeks later.) His contributions to WWE have been significant compared to other “celebrities” involved in shows.

Right now, WWE is in the midst of an extremely unique time in their business. They are reliant on subscribers to the WWE Network & the peak time to bring subscribers to the brand is during WrestleMania season.

America is experiencing “Trumpamania” and will be over the course of the next 4 years (at least). If WWE wants to really boost their subscriber numbers, they will reach out to President Donald Trump and ask him to come to Orlando, Florida and address the WWE Universe.

I’m not saying to involve Donald Trump in a storyline, make him the special guest referee in a match or even have him walk down to the ring. They don’t have to do that. A simple backstage segment, an extended promo to the wrestling fans or a chance encounter with his arch-nemesis Vince McMahon would be sufficient in creating buzz for the show.

If I’m WWE, I would constantly mention that they have no idea what The President of the United States is going to say at WrestleMania 33. They should have Michael Cole & Mauro Ranallo pound it into their fans heads. Get them talking & more importantly, get the mainstream media into a frenzy.

Of course, die-hard wrestling fans would likely not be into the idea. I attended the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Madison Square Garden in 2013 when Donald Trump accepted the honor. The live crowd was highly disrespectful, as they were to everything that didn’t involve professional wrestlers on that night, but Donald still maintained his composure and got through his accepting speech.

Furthermore, WrestleMania takes place in Orlando next year; the city where the horrific mass-shooting at Pulse Nightclub took place, killing dozens of people. The last time Donald Trump had anything to say about the Pulse Nightclub shooting, he was calling for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering The United States.” This could be an opportunity for Trump to address the City of Orlando & 80,000 fans from around the world in one stadium. It could be a really positive moment for The Trump Administration if executed properly with sincerity.

There are clear cut benefits for both sides if this would take place. The amount of mainstream media coverage that WWE would receive would guarantee an increase in WWE Network subscriptions so people could watch the moment live. They could reach baskets full former wrestling fans who may have been away from the product for years.

I know Mr. President-Elect is a big fan of social media. It’s obvious considering he is constantly tweeting, so I’m hoping this article finds him.

WWE, bring the first WWE Hall of Famer to be President of The United States of America back to WrestleMania for a WWE Universe Address. Give him the platform to speak to the nation’s youth and millions across the entire world.

And in turn, stack those WWE Network subscriptions sky-high.
