The Nevada Athletic Commission reduced its penalty against Nick Diaz today, after a settlement agreement was reached by both sides. According to MMA Fighting, Diaz will be suspended 18 months, retroactively, and fined $100,000 for testing positive for marijuana after UFC 183 on Jan. 31, 2015.
Based on this reduction, Diaz should be able to fight again by Aug. 1. The commissioners quickly approved the settlement unanimously Tuesday without mentioning the terms. Diaz was originally suspended for five years and fined $165,000.
