This past weekend at the G1 Special in San Francisco, CA, viewers and competitors witnessed a scary moment when Hiromu Takahashi took a nasty neck bump after a Phoenix-plex from Dragon Lee went wrong.

After the match, many were left very concerned for Takahashi. Now, New Japan Pro-Wrestling has finally released a statement on the injury:

On July 7, during the G1 Special in San Francisco event, Hiromu Takahashi sustained a neck injury and was taken to a San Francisco hospital for evaluation. Takahashi was able to return to Japan today, and will proceed with treatment. We apologize for the delay in publishing this update, which was in order to ensure smooth and efficient transit for Takahashi at the airport. We deeply appreciate our fans’ concerns.

At this time, it’s unclear what the status of Takahashi’s injury and how serious it is. There is speculation that he could have a broken neck.
