John Cena Talks Transition to Hollywood, WWE Future & Return to the Ring

John Cena recently sat down to take some questions from The New York Times for their recently published article on professional wrestlers having success making the transition to Hollywood. Some notable mentions were Edge in Haven & Flash, Kevin Nash in Magic Mike and Batista in James Bond.

Cena spoke about how he started with WWE studios movie The Marine & 12 Rounds:

“Doing action wasn’t a real good fit for me because it’s the opposite of how I work. It was extremely choreographed and extremely scripted.”

Cena made mention of taking time off from WWE to host the new reality series on FOX, American Grit:

“I have a very good mutual understanding with my boss that I don’t ever want to leave; I really like it in the ring. I try to pick opportunities that don’t take me away from WWE for too long. I try to do opportunities that can really help expand our audience and bring new eyes to our product.”

John Cena returns to action tonight at Madison Square Garden to face Alberto Del Rio for the United States Title in his first match back to WWE. He will also be on this Monday’s Raw in a match against Del Rio as well.
