Eva Marie Brilliantly Maintains the Diva Role in the WWE Women’s Division

The Internet Wrestling Community has always disliked Eva Marie. Since the day they saw her walk into a scene on WWE Total Divas, they’ve had a preconceived opinion about her that has festered on social media for over three years.

There’s no question that she is the stereotypical WWE “diva” of years past who was hired solely on her look & athletic potential. And if you’re confused about what athletic potential is, go watch her workout in a gym. She’s unbelievable.

But let’s face facts: Eva Marie is downright gorgeous. She knows it. Vince McMahon knows it. Triple H knows it. And honestly, if you’re in denial of that, it’s silly. Off the top of my head, I haven’t seen many women hotter than her.

We’ve heard all of the unwarranted insults being hurled in her direction:

“You Can’t Wrestle!”

“That’s Not Heel Heat. That’s Go Away Heat!”

“Eva Marie Sucks!”

Eva Marie is doing a brilliant job of continuing on with the WWE Diva role in an environment that is more focused on the in-ring work of the women than it ever has been before. Don’t get me wrong here: I love the natural evolution of the division & appreciate all of the awesome matches that we’ve seen. (Sasha Banks is my current favorite wrestler. Period.)

Just because Eva Marie isn’t on the level of Sasha Banks (who is unquestionably the most charismatic &  over) or Charlotte (who is without a doubt the most athletic), doesn’t mean that she “sucks” or “can’t wrestle.” What the majority of the millennials & dweebs that are anti-Eva Marie don’t understand is that there is an entire generation of wrestling fans that loved the women of WWE based on their looks. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. It’s entertainment. She’s the type of women that will make a channel surfer stop and see what she’s doing.

Let’s look at the “You Can’t Wrestle!” cry from wrestling fans.

Yes, she can wrestle. And she can likely wrestle WAY better than you. If you haven’t seen her improvements in the confines of a wrestling ring from the time she debuted in 2013 until now, you’re blind. She’s working her ass off and getting better.

In the grand scheme of things, three years of on & off training (and no, it’s not her fault that she had off time from in-ring training; that was WWE’s call) isn’t a lot of time. Not every skill comes to everyone at the same rate of quickness. Everyone is different and Eva is currently showing her seriousness to learn the craft.

In 2016, “heat” given by the wrestling fans is completely different than it was in 1985. Back then, there wasn’t an Internet. There wasn’t social media. And the majority of fans had no idea that what they were watching was a complete work. The heels of that generation weren’t seen as cool. They were legitimately disliked because wrestling fans didn’t know any better.

Today’s climate called for a different kind of heel. All of the wrestling fans know that what they are watching is a work. We lived through an era where heels weren’t really heels anymore. They were perceived as “cool.” The nWo, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Degeneration X, The Rock…the list goes on. They were all heels that changed the thinking of wrestling fans.

When fans today are challenged to come up with a great heel, they usually mention Kevin Owens, Bray Wyatt, Chris Jericho & Seth Rollins…all of which are perceived as cool. They don’t get over in traditional heel ways. They don’t generate heat at all…they mainly generate some form of babyface pop from the audience.

Eva Marie doesn’t. She is a throwback to what a heel is supposed to be. She has a gimmick with a storyline that is currently being executed to perfection. From the entrance to the creative ways she has been able to avoid wrestling Becky Lynch, Eva Marie is quickly becoming the best heel in the entire Women’s Division.

Speaking of Becky Lynch, she was just interviewed by Channel Guide Magazine about working with Eva Marie and this is what she had to say:

“Eva Marie is so hard-working. Yes, she is new. She gets so much flack from fans for being this gorgeous woman who, apparently, they say can’t wrestle, but she puts in the hard work. I love working with talent like that. It’s a challenge for me, but I feel it’s a great spot for me to be in because I can be a leader. I really enjoy that. I remember when I was coming in and having someone to keep you calm and help you through helps. Then you build this confidence. It does help because maybe they don’t have that confidence at first, and you are able to bring them through to a good match. Then they come back, and they are so excited. I absolutely love that.”

When Becky Lynch finally gets her hands on Eva, and she will, Eva is going to take an ass-kicking that she’s never dreamed of. She is going to be pushed to her physical limits; being pummeled with strikes, suplexes and submission holds.

But I bet she comes out on top. I’ll bet that Eva Marie somehow beats Becky Lynch. You know why?

Because YOU dislike her so much. You’re fueling that fire for WWE to continue to push her and put her in a position to stay on top. If you don’t like her, don’t react.

Don’t Tweet.

Don’t Boo.

Don’t Instagram.

Don’t Google Search Her.

That is how you tell WWE that you don’t want to see Eva Marie anymore. She’s going to be the Women’s Champion on Smackdown and at this point, there isn’t much that you can do about it. When she does win it, be patient because ultimately, it will be for the greater good. A babyface will come along, dethrone her and everyone will cheer. You need patience.

In the meantime, get your heads out of the clouds & bask in the beauty and grandeur of Eva Marie. She’s a supermodel who has agreed to put her body through hell to entertain the WWE fans.

And gaining worldwide fame & adulation isn’t bad either.

On a side note: I grew up in the 1990s where Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra and Jenny McCarthy were smoking hot supermodels. Yes, they had fake boobs or whatever, but who cares?! They were some of the hottest women of all time & there isn’t a single issue with that. I appreciate Eva Marie because she’s absolutely gorgeous & works extremely hard to maintain an incredible body. If girls eating bags of potato chips & Oreos without working out is a turn on for you, all the power to you. That’s fine. But call a spade…a spade.

Get over yourselves, grow up & have a little fun instead of being so politically correct & pompous.
