Dump The Undisputed Era, Adam Cole: A True Champion Stands Alone

I don’t really mean that…or do I?

I’m trying to think outside of the box to help reignite NXT with some serious competition on Wednesday Night’s. If needed, The Undisputed Era can stay together forever, like I predict The New Day will.

Look, we all know that Adam Cole is much better suited as an arrogant, scumbag heel. That’s something that goes without saying.

There have been many storylines throughout wrestling history where a major member of a dominant faction is kicked out in the most brutal of ways. Truth be told, we haven’t seen one of those in a long time.

Memories of Ric Flair and The Four Horsemen jumping Sting after he was befriended by Flair…or Randy Orton getting the “thumbs down” from Triple H moments before being ousted from Evolution.

I also have fading memories of Hollywood Hogan using his weight belt to whip the crap out of someone, essentially kicking them out of the nWo. And I’m sure there are many more that I’m missing.

The Undisputed Era at Survivor Series 2019

One thing that I’ve always admired about NXT is their ability to give many of their wrestlers a run on both sides: babyface & heel. At this stage of the game, becoming the longest reigning NXT Champion of all time feels like just the beginning for Cole. He has many years of WWE dominance ahead of him.

After his program with Velveteen Dream, what else does Adam Cole have to do in NXT? He’s had matches with basically everyone. And yes, even though Dream is poised to win the championship, it won’t make a difference to Cole. This could be even more reason for The Undisputed Era to turn on their leader.

Do you guys remember his epic feud with Kyle O’Reilly in Ring of Honor? The roots go deep withe Cole & O’Reilly, as they broke into the business at around the same time and have had countless matches. They also formed one of the great tag teams in Ring of Honor history: Future Shock.

The chemistry that Cole & O’Reilly have in the ring as adversaries should be on the big stage of an NXT Takeover event. Personally, I saw them have a Dark Match against each other super early in their careers at a Dragon Gate USA show in Philadelphia. Both wrestlers impressed me that night from the front row of the ECW Arena.

A singles run is what elevates great World Champions into legends. The Rock initially won his first WWE Championship with The Corporation backing him up. He didn’t become a legend until he broke out on his own. Cole can accomplish the same thing under the NXT banner.

There’s always a spot for the next major singles star & Adam Cole can do it without the backing of The Undisputed Era. He can take the role of a babyface (fans already scream his catch phrase) and elevate to the next level of the card.
