Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones Announced as UFC 200 Main Event

After the Conor McGregor debacle, UFC 200 finally has its main event.

It was announced on Good Morning America this morning that Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will fight to unify the Light Heavyweight Championship on July 9th at UFC 200. You can see the announcement below:

Jones, who defeated Cormier in their first fight, believes that he’s ready to repeat that performance and come out of UFC 200 victorious:

Daniel Cormier says he’s also thrilled about the decision, and is excited to try and avenge his loss to Jones:

With the main event now in place, the only remaining question for UFC 200 is whether Nate Diaz will be involved. Dana White has previously stated that he wants Diaz on the card and is working to find him an opponent, however Diaz has been very outspoken that if he’s not fighting Conor McGregor, he does not plan on fighting. McGregor was removed from the card after retiring briefly over Twitter due to a dispute over media appearances with Dana White. Dana has since said that Conor will fight “soon”, but not at UFC 200.
