Mexico City, Mexico – CMLL was live for their super Friday night show from Arena Mexico. New Japan stars Big Mike Elgin and David Finlay was in action, probably for the final time of the tour. Elgin was in the main event against Ultimo Guerrero. Last Friday, Elgin won the Grand Prix and Ultimo challenged him to this match. I did live tweet this show, often forgetting and getting caught up in the show but nonetheless, here are the results:

Reactions:

I missed the first match because I live in SoCal and traffic is ridiculous. Then had to eat dinner, so I didn’t really settle in until Soberano took the sky. He’s great and on his way to Japan to work in the junior tag tournament.

La Bestia, a big dude, couldn’t carry a much smaller Hijo de L.A. Park, which had to be embarrassing. It must’ve been who he was in there with because Hijo de L.A. Park wasn’t his normal self really. David Finlay was decent, won a fall with his stunner. He’s probably headed back to Japan, I would assume.

L.A. Park’s match was great & he is the reason we are all here, right? Cavenario is a favorite of mine. Hechicero is becoming one. I don’t know why The Chris is wrestling without Ciber or Sharly Rock Star (the other members of El Cl4n) but maybe they’re all out of here soon? Mistico & Volador were their usual excellent selves.

Match of the night was the main event. Elgin worked rudo & Ultimo worked technico. That is the exact opposite of how each guy works normally. Lately, Ultimo has worked both, just depends on who is standing on the other side of the ring. Tons of heat in this match. Elgin got booed, Ultimo was cheered, and in the end, the fan favorite, maybe just for the night, won. Ultimo Guerrero is on to face Diamante Azul for the vacant World title on Tuesday. Elgin is probably going back to Japan.

Overall, a very good night at Arena Mexico.

I’ll be back on Monday night.
