Did Y2J just confirm that Kenny Omega is AEW bound?

During a recent interview with SiriusXM Radio’s “Busted Open Radio,” newly signed member of All Elite Wrestling Chris Jericho spoke to the guys about several different topics including the “Double or Nothing” event, his plans for AEW and so much more.

But what is catching the attention of many is his comments when asked about the potential TV deals that AEW is fielding at the moment.

Here’s what Jericho had to say:

“I wouldn’t have gone to All Elite if there wasn’t a strong TV deal on the table and being worked on. There’s a couple on the table that I know of and both of them, I’m like, ‘Wow.’ When it’s announced, if it’s one of those two, you’ll go, ‘That’s what they need.'”

During this statement, BOR co-host Bully Ray stopped him to clarify and Jericho reaffirmed that if the one of the two deals that he knows of comes through, we’ll be very impressed.

As previously reported, AEW has reportedly been in talks with Time Warner for a possible deal to broadcast a weekly program and further content on TBS or TNT. Other networks have been in the conversation as well including WGN America, Paramount, etc.

In addition, during this interview Jericho also talked about talent from other promotions keeping an eye on what’s going on and may have let something slip.

While talking about name recognition, Jericho inserted Kenny Omega’s name with the rest of the already signed members of AEW and claimed that he adds another level of legitimately to the promotion.

Judge for yourselves:

“By me joining the company, fans and wrestlers go, ‘Holy shit, this is the real deal. If Jericho went there, this is real. A lot of people probably don’t know Kenny or Cody or the Bucks. We know them, but your average fan doesn’t. And your guy in WWE making a decent living but thinks they can do better now goes, ‘Wow, If Jericho can go there. I can go there too.'”

Obviously, it could’ve nothing to read too much into, but it has many thinking that this solidifies Omega’s choice to go to AEW over WWE or NJPW.

Omega’s contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling expires at the end of January. It is unclear at this time if Omega signs with AEW if he’ll be allowed to work New Japan, similarly to Jericho.

It was reported by the Wrestling Observer that Jericho talked with WWE and AEW up until the last minute. It came down to AEW offering him a better deal, which allowed Jericho to work his cruise and with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
