Brock Lesnar Not Defending Universal Championship at MITB; Will Break CM Punk’s World Title Record

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will not be defending his title at WWE Money In The Bank and will likely not be on the show at all.

There is speculation that Lesnar won’t be defending his title until late-July or even WWE SummerSlam in August. This news follows Lesnar’s successful title defense against Roman Reigns in a steel cage match at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia.

In related news, since Lesnar won’t be defending at MITB, it means that after the pay-per-view, Brock Lesnar will break CM Punk‘s record for the longest WWE world title reign in the modern era of 434 days. Lesnar is currently (as of this writing) at 402 days and considering MITB is over a month away, Brock will make history once again and will break the record.

As for Lesnar’s next opponent, at this time there is no clear cut superstar. Many believe it will be Roman Reigns once again at WWE SummerSlam considering the questionable finish at the GGR event.
