Booking The Finish: The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33

WrestleMania 33 is precisely two weeks away & there are high stakes on the line when The Undertaker steps back into his “yard” to defend it against Roman Reigns. In this edition of “Booking The Finish”, PWPNation.com Owner Jay Alletto goes outside the box to give you a scenario for the finish to this major attraction at WrestleMania 33!

It has been said that this was a match that Vince McMahon has been looking to book for a long time due to his longing for Roman Reigns to be adored by the WWE Universe. However, stepping foot into the ring with The Undertaker at WrestleMania is a daunting task for anyone on the WWE roster.

While Shawn Michaels is dubbed “Mr. WrestleMania”, The Undertaker possessed the most impressive streak in WWE history. “The Streak”, as it was known, ended at 21 – 1 when he lost to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans.

Speaking of New Orleans, it has already been announced that WWE will be returning to “The Big Easy” for WrestleMania in 2018. More on that later.

Since WrestleMania 30, The Undertaker is 2 – 0. He defeated Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31 & Shane McMahon last year at WrestleMania 32. Will Roman Reigns be the professional wrestler to defeat The Undertaker once again?

The short answer is Yes.
Roman Reigns must defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.

At this point in his career, Roman Reigns cannot afford another WrestleMania loss. Anyone who has watched over the past few years knows that Roman Reigns is poised to be the next face of WWE.

But what if WWE isn’t so sure anymore? What if they would rather Roman Reigns be the HEEL of WWE?

Roman Reigns must defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 and he needs to walk out of the match as the most hated man in the business. This may not be a plausible considering that my scenario is very unlikely to take place. But the timing just feels right.

Roman will step into the ring and wrestle The Undertaker & the hostility from the WWE Universe will be at a fever pitch.

ANALYZING THE MATCH

If you look at these two men on paper, you see very similar styles. Lots of striking, heavy power offense & a variety of signature moves. But Roman is the one that has to do most of the work here. In some of Roman’s best matches, he hasn’t had to carry his opponent. In this case, Roman will have to do most of the heavy bumping & to work around the aging Deadman.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that a fantastic match has already been laid out for these two. We’ll see some big spots, major reversals & multiple finishing maneuvers. We MUST see the most determined & violent Roman Reigns that we have ever seen. He must come out of his shell & put a beating on The Undertaker that we haven’t seen anyone unleash before.

I want to compare this to the relative squash that was Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena at SummerSlam 2014…with shades of gray. I don’t think it will be taken to THAT level, but I do think a hefty ass kicking needs to happen from Roman to The Undertaker.

And no, I do NOT think this will be the retirement match for The Undertaker.

Taking into consideration the way WWE heavily promoted the WrestleMania retirement matches of Shawn Michaels & Ric Flair in years past, there’s no way they wouldn’t promote the living hell out of this being the final time that you will see The Undertaker. That will likely happen next year in New Orleans. Win, lose or draw. Just my take.

In addition to a possible ‘Undertaker Retirement Match’ next year at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, a heavily rumored clash between the two men that were able to defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania, Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar, will likely take place.

BOOKING THE FINISH

The finish to this match should be simple. However, we will obviously see The Undertaker put up the fight of his life to avoid the inevitable to happen. With rumors now circulating that this match will end the show, I expect massive heat for Roman Reigns in victory, so they might as well take advantage, right?

Roman should reverse every single possibly finish that The Undertaker throws his way. Undertaker should show immense vulnerability that we haven’t seen from him in his entire career.

The fact is, if you want to take advantage of a monumental moment where the heat will be as hot as molten lava for Roman, THIS IS IT!

Triple H can tell us until we’re blue in the face that Roman Reigns is ‘already a heel’, but wrestling fans know the truth. They can sense the truth. Roman has been pitted against heels & heels only. The dude is a babyface.

But if there were ever the time to turn him…it’s WrestleMania.

Frankly, I think this finish will consist of a third spear from Roman Reigns, and a 1…2…3, defeating The Undertaker in convincing fashion & possibly ending his career. Listen, I know I said that this wouldn’t be the case, but in reality, we just never know when we will see The Deadman for the final time.

Either way, I expect to be highly entertained when The Undertaker takes the stage at WrestleMania once again. And Roman Reigns continues his WrestleMania legacy, which he will continue to build on since his win over another legend last year, Triple H.
