WWE needs to do everything they can to avoid booking The Undertaker vs. Braun Strowman for WrestleMania 32. It will be bad…very bad. Here’s a look at why & some other viable options for The Undertaker on the grandest stage

Throughout the course of WrestleMania history, there have been a large amount of critical decisions that have gone both ways for WWE. This year, WWE is faced with one of their most challenging WrestleMania’s in history. Over 100,000 fans are expected at AT&T Stadium in Dallas this April for a WrestleMania that is plagued with severe injuries to a large amount of top talent on the card.

WWE needs to be careful with one of their most valuable assets: The Undertaker. Right now, the rumored match for The Undertaker is a clash with the definition of a rookie: Bruan Strowman.

This is the worst idea in the history of WrestleMania. And there have been some bad ones!

  • Hogan vs. Sid as the main event of WrestleMania 8
  • Triple H beating Booker T at WrestleMania 19
  • The Miz in the MAIN EVENT at WrestleMania 27. We’ll never hear the end of that one
  • Not booking Randy Savage in a match at WrestleMania 9 and more…

WWE was able to avoid surefire disaster at WrestleMania 30 by avoiding the proposed Randy Orton vs. Batista main event at the last minute.

According to the PWTorch glossary of professional wrestling terminology, a green wrestler is defined as

Inexperienced. Refers to a wrestler who is in the early stages of their career and, as a result, may be prone to make mistakes because of their inexperience

Braun Strowman is green as grass. There is no other way to put it. While Vince McMahon has been confirmed to adore the “big man”, it would be an epic mistake of monumental proportions to put Strowman anywhere near a singles match at WrestleMania 32; let alone against The Undertaker.

Braun Strowman WWE

Luckily, there are conflicting reports between PWInsiderThe Wrestling Observer on this matter, so at least that gives all of the “smart marks” a gleam of hope.

But hope isn’t what we need. It’s a no-brainer. KEEP BRAUN STROWMAN AWAY FROM THE UNDERTAKER! Strowman is a lackey, plain and simple. He’s the muscle behind the muscle in The Wyatt Family. He’s the fourth best wrestler out of four. In other words, he’s the worst!

And it’s not his fault. The guy was fast-tracked to the main roster without a run on NXT. He may have had a live event match or two before debuting, but that’s not near enough experience to even warrant a run on the main roster. He’s not good. It’s obvious!

I’m not saying that Braun Strowman won’t get there in time. I’m saying he’s far from ready this year. And what if that match did take place? If Undertaker is slated to win, it’s with Hell’s Gate. No way he can chokeslam or tombstone that monster at this stage of his career. And don’t get me started if Strowman would give Undertaker his second WrestleMania loss. Ugh.

There are plenty of better options on the WWE roster to face The Deadman on The Grandest Stage. When we think about The Undertaker at WrestleMania, we want to think of the coolest possible scenario that he can be placed in. We want to be able to see the best possible match out of a guy who doesn’t have that many left in him.

Let’s get creative for a minute: which WWE Superstar could currently benefit the most from a program with The Undertaker heading into WrestleMania?

Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens

This will be his first WrestleMania match. Why not have it be the most memorable of his career? Even in defeat, Owens would be immediately elevated as a top of the line heel (which he already is) & could excel above his current status of wrestling Dolph ZigglerRyback consistently.

Nobody can talk more trash than Kevin Owens. His promo work would be able to carry the feud; much like Bray Wyatt did last year. And don’t tell me that the fate of Owens will end up like Wyatt after his loss to Undertaker last year. Bray Wyatt is a completely different character that has been pigeonholed into working a very specific style of feuds. Kevin Owens is different. He’s more versatile and can fit into any situation presented.

Let’s look on the safe side of things: which WWE Superstar would be the safest to pull off an incredible match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania?

Chris Jericho WWE 2015

Chris Jericho

WWE tends to bring Jericho back when they need him. This is a prime example of WWE absolutely needing Chris Jericho. He is absolutely capable of pulling off a tremendous match with anyone on the WWE roster. This has the ability to be a tremendous war of psychology between the two WWE veterans. It’s highly unlikely that Jericho would be anything but ecstatic at the idea of working with The Deadman.

Let’s look at the “outside the box” option: which WWE Superstar likely won’t get the shot, but would also have an incredible match & story with The Undertaker at WrestleMania?

AJ Styles WWE

AJ Styles

Think about the billing of this match: The Phenom vs. The Phenomenal One. AJ Styles recently made his WWE debut at The Royal Rumble to a huge reaction. He is making an incredible impact in a very short amount of time & it looks like WWE is strategically building him up for something. He defeated Chris Jericho (I’m sure a rematch is happening soon), Curtis AxelThe Miz & is set to “likely” win his singles PPV debut at Fastlane later this month. The Undertaker could come back to defend his yard from the newest WWE signee who dares to call himself “The Phenomenal One!” Again, this is an “outside the box” opinion, but would be a huge improvement from Braun Strowman.

Undertaker needs something MUCH BETTER to do than bump around the ring for Strowman. The only thing that Strowman needs to be doing at WrestleMania is standing outside of the ring witnessing Brock Lesnar throw Bray Wyatt around for 10 minutes. Strowman is a lackey right now and that’s it. Nothing that WWE can do between now & WrestleMania will change that.

Not beating The Big Show or Kane or anyone else for that matter. Don’t make a monumental blunder on the biggest stage possible! Keep Braun Strowman away from The Undertaker and allow one of the three epic match ideas provided above do the talking.
