During a conference call earlier this week, Executive Vice President of Talent, Creative and Live Events, Paul “Triple H” Levesque revealed that the WarGames structure for this Saturday’s NXT Takeover in Houston, Texas will NOT have a roof. The structure will be open, similar to a steel-cage. The match will still have two rings, surrounded by a cage like structure, but will not be enclosed.

Here’s the quote from said conference call:

“We’re not going to have a roof. I think it’s a little bit limiting. I think the style has changed. I’m not saying that anyone’s going to do it in this match, but I think going forward, I try to think about the future… look, Arn Anderson wasn’t doing moonsaults off the top of a cage. This allows for there to be a little bit of a different opportunity there to do some things. I don’t think personally that we’ve changed the concept of what it is… there are some small tweaks, but I think they work better in today’s generation than it did in the format that was originally used.”

This news has been met with mixed reactions all over social media, as some are criticizing WWE for a bait and switch, as it was not known until this week that the structure would not have a roof. Others are praising the innovation and feel this makes the match more intriguing.
