PWP Nation’s Matthew Hollie wonders if a new direction in management will be the boost that Impact Wrestling needs.

TNA Wrestling is going into a change in management. That’s right, you heard me correctly.

In a press release by IMPACT Ventures (the company that owns not just TNA Wrestling, but IMPACT Wrestling brand as well), Billy Corgan will take over the reins as President of TNA while Dixie Carter takes on the new role as Chairwoman and Chief Strategy Officer within the company. This marks the beginning of a new era in TNA after seeing ratings get back up with the help of a talented roster and a rabid fan base.

Now what does that mean for the current product?

It will still continue, but I would like to see them get some independent names on the roster that will allow them to stand out from other promotions. I’ve seen them acquire Maria & Mike Bennett, Drew Galloway, Moose, and more recently Aron Rex (the former Damien Sandow) from other promotions like Ring of Honor and WWE, and this allows them to excel a hell of a lot better than where they were. With Billy handling not just the day-to-day operations but also the talent relations, it could be a big task for John Gaburick to handle a roster under the new management’s watch. I have criticized Gaburick in the past for letting originals like Eric Young and Bobby Roode walk out the door, but I have to give him credit for putting together a solid roster from the ground up, which is something I am amazed about.

Now, I have heard earlier in the year about all the negative garbage websites and smart marks come up with and hashtag #LowMorale came around and ticking off of the talent. Some people talk negatively about it (me as a prior example), while some people enjoy what these guys do in the new and improved TNA. I’ve been watching each show since they moved to POP TV to see who impresses me the most in that promotion, and the talent they have sure impressed me.

Quality over quantity, the old saying goes.

This is the new TNA, or TNA 2 (as Maria herself called it), where there’s new faces, new feuds, and new attitudes; something you don’t see from other companies. Wrestling fans should be focusing on the in ring product and what is going on in front of the camera and not what is going on from the inside. The focus on what goes on behind the scenes at TNA, from rumors of potential investors to rumors of low morale, it’s so ridiculous and stupid with sites that are completely biased and the opinions of WWE fanboys. More people should be give TNA some credit for their resurrection because the product is top notch and the roster is at it’s best yet.

You probably say to yourself; “WWE is a lot better thanks in part of the Brand Extension.” I say TNA right behind them with a bright future, great storylines, and a roster that can do no wrong in the eyes of TNA fans. The talent leave the negative crap behind and they go to work every day. I still support TNA even if they want to be different from other promotions and people will be giving them lots of grief over some changes. But I know there are faithful fans who still tune in every week to see what happens next, and there are critics who still watch it to see their faults.

But TNA is made for the fans, and they can handle criticism from every angle no matter what. But fans stay away from the negative crap and focus on the positive. They know the focus should be on the talent and that’s the way it should be.

TNA might be under new management, but will the momentum from the past few months continue? Time will tell.
