In this short piece, PWP Nation Editor-in-Chief Eron Ramadanov explains why WWE should sign Cody Hall to a contract and pair him with a familiar face… his father, WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall.

Earlier this week, WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall was interviewed by Total Wrestling Magazine, where he talked about NXT, Vince McMahon and a lot more. But the thing that caught my eye was an idea Hall had involving his son, Cody Hall, who is currently recovering from an injury he sustained wrestling for New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

In the interview, Hall stated:

“What I want to do is bring back managing in the wrestling business. Remember all the cool managers? My son Cody’s bigger than me, so I can get away with it in WWE, Vince [McMahon] doesn’t like the managers to be too big. But with Cody he’s bigger so I can get away with it. It would be my goal, I encourage it. They had Ric [Flair] going out to the ring with Charlotte so there’s still that thread of hope that I can do the same with Cody.”

After what Hall said, it only makes sense that WWE should act as soon as possible and sign Cody Hall to a developmental contract. When Cody first began wrestling, Scott said that he’d like to see Cody gain some experience on the road before signing with WWE or any major promotion.

Cody began training in the New Japan dojo and later made his debut in New Japan Pro-Wrestling in early 2015. After debuting for New Japan, Hall mainly worked tag team matches with the Bullet Club, and rarely competed in singles competition. After gaining some good experience, some bad luck came about as Hall was injured later that month at NJPW Invasion Attack 2016 and has been sidelined ever since.

Now, I can’t read the mind of Scott Hall, but when he talked about Cody gaining experience, I believe he intended him to work more than just some tag matches here and there. For Cody to excel, he needs to be working more and more, especially in a place where he can learn from the best in the business. Personally, I don’t believe New Japan is the right place for him and the style of wrestling he wants to perform.

I believe that Cody Hall would be best off in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center being trained and strung along by the likes of Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Matt Bloom, William Regal, Norman Smiley, Robbie Brookside and all the wonderful trainers at the PC.

I understand it’s not how Scott Hall was brought up in the business, but in this new age, the WWE Performance Center has everything a young talent could possibly want. Yes, he can gain experience on the indies, but the business is evolving and the WWE PC is a high-level, world class facility that has helped mold today’s brightest WWE superstars.

Cody Hall has unlimited potential to be one of the biggest stars in the wrestling business in the next 10-15 years. He has all the tools his father did and then some (Scott will say the same). Cody is incredibly athletic and is able to move with such quickness and speed for a performer his size. He has a great body and look for the business and with his father by his side as a full-time manager would only help.

This formula works. A perfect example of what the star/manager duo can do would have to be Charlotte and Ric Flair. At the start, Charlotte was still very green and new to the business. A lot like Cody, Charlotte had only been training for two years. By putting Ric with her, it added a level of credibility, legitimacy and stardom that couldn’t have been created without him.

Same goes for Cody and Scott Hall.

Let Cody develop and work at the WWE Performance Center and NXT live events as much as possible. Once he’s ready for TV, pair him up with his father and let them run with it. Scott Hall is one of the brightest minds the business has ever seen and he will help and assist Cody in getting over with the crowd and how to work as a heel.

In closing, I think WWE will be truly sorry if they allow Cody Hall to remain outside of the company lines. With someone so raw, with no bad habits and who is still a workable piece of clay, it’s a no-brainer for WWE to SIGN THIS GUY.
