Ryback Rules?

On August 28, Ryback released a YouTube video purportedly from a hospital bed saying he “needs to get fixed” via surgery.

Ryback said he’s been wrestling hurt for “about seven months” with a “couple strained groins and two sports hernias.”

Ryback said he could be called selfish or crazy for wrestling hurt for most of 2014, but he pushed through his injuries to keep wrestling for the fans.

Ryback vowed to returned better than before and “things will go my way.”

According to Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch, Ryback has recovered from his ailments and has been cleared to wrestle. However, he has yet to return because WWE is mulling over how to re-introduce him on on television; this could include tweaks to his character and a renewed singles push.

Ryback was, at one time, thought to become the new face of the WWE. Shortly after his debut, he was thrust onto the main stage against WWE Superstars such as CM Punk, John Cena, and The Shield. One night removed from coming up short against Mark Henry at WrestleMania 29, Ryback executed a heel turn after attacking John Cena. It’s been all downhill from there for the Las Vegas native.

The heel turn hindered his momentum rather than helping it. He was unsuccessful in winning the WWE Championship from Cena that spring and spent that summer bullying people in catering.

His failed partnerships with Paul Heyman and Curtis Axel haven’t done him any favors, either. Before he went under the knife, Ryback was engaged in an on-and-off feud with Gold and Stardust as part of Rybaxel.
