PWP Nation’s Lewis Carlan explains why the NXT Tag Team Title match between The Revival and American Alpha will be a match for the ages.

WrestleMania 32 is fast approaching with the hype for it at an all time high. The yearly ritual for pro wrestling fans never falls to be a huge spectacle with the biggest matches of the year. At least that is what the WWE should be striving for.

With the matches announced for WrestleMania 32, I have to say, in my opinion that the best match that will take place during this year’s WrestleMania weekend will NOT happen at WrestleMania 32. It will take place at NXT Takeover Dallas as The Revival put their NXT tag team championship on the line against American Alpha.

This is a match that I have been hoping to get for quite some time. I knew these two teams were on a collision course and I am so pumped that I will get to see this huge match on the NXT Takeover Dallas show. The match is exactly what tag team wrestling is all about. It boggles my mind that WWE’s developmental promotion has a superior tag team division.

The Revival NXT

I mean WrestleMania 32 is giving us the New Day versus the League of Nations which in my opinion will be boring and uneventful. News flash: I am no longer interested in Booty O’s. The Revival versus American Alpha is going to blow that match away in terms of excitement, intensity, suspense and pure action.

The NXT tag team champions The Revival consist of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder. Their road to the NXT titles first began back in 2014 when they performed mainly at live events under the name The Mechanics. They had two televised matches n 2014, losing both of them. In July 2015, they appeared on an episode of NXT and defeated Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady for their first televised win.

The in-ring performance of Dash and Dawson was reminiscent of the old school style of The Minnesota Wrecking Crew Gene and Ole Anderson. The chemistry between the two is almost flawless. I became an instant fan of Dash and Dawson from the moment I saw them. I knew right away that they were going to be the future NXT tag team champions and I was right.

They defeated The Vaudevillans for the titles in November 2015 and have successfully defended them for a number of months now. They adopted the name The Revival which is a perfect name for this duo. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder are definitely a throwback to the past.

Gable and JJ

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable make up the team of American Alpha. Jordan and Gable first teamed together back in July 2015 after a two month storyline in which Gable tried to convince Jordan to team with him. They picked up a victory in their first match together and they really haven’t looked back. Just like The Revival, American Alpha have terrific chemistry with Gable as the mat technician and Jordan as the powerhouse who has his own claim on suplex city.

Every match featuring American Alpha leaves you wanting more, more, and more. They became #1 contenders to the NXT Tag Titles with a victory over The Vaudevillans in an incredible match on March 16th.

Watching these two teams compete on NXT has been simply electrifying. These two teams define exactly what tag team wrestling is and should be. I said months ago that I wanted to see these two teams collide down the road. It was refreshing that NXT have kept these tag teams apart for a number of months instead of rushing a feud between them.

The Revival

I really like that these two teams have dominated the tag team scene in NXT for quite some time and now are finally headed for the much anticipated war with the titles on the line. This is what tag team wrestling is all about and quite frankly has me the most excited I have been in a while for a match.

These two teams have the potential to have an amazing feud that I hope will carry over into the WWE. The WWE has needed to improve their tag team division for quite some time and MUST start with American Alpha and The Revival. The guys are four superstars and deserve the opportunity to bring back the WWE tag team division back to prominence.
