PWP’s John “JCD” Dimiceli reveals what he thinks the REAL problem with WWE is.
It’s all over the internet. WWE Monday Night RAW on November 23rd, the night after WWE Survivor Series, did a 2.16 rating and everyone is predicting the end of the road for WWE. Sheamus is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and people are moaning, groaning and ready to start watching CBS’s new superhero TV show, “Supergirl” on Monday nights instead.
Hypocrite fans and “legends” are coming back out of the woodwork to trash the product, but this is not the WWE’s biggest problem. The roster is thin and has been destroyed by an unprecedented amount of injuries simultaneously, not to mention, NXT is out shining the main roster on a consistent basis.
The problem with WWE is multifaceted.
Firstly, one of WWE’s glaring issues is that very few, if any, young and fresh talents mean anything. They’re rarely protected and are a part of WWE’s biggest faction: the “even steven” booking club. So when injuries strip down your roster, WWE looks to the younger talent to step up, but when their credibility and legitimacy is shaky at best, that’s impossible. The old formula would be that the younger, hungry talent would work their way up the card; that idea is gone nowadays. Almost non-existent.
Part two of this problem is that talents that are trying to get over with the fans, but when they gain even a little bit of momentum, it all falls apart. Who is to blame for that? WWE creative. A talent will have a fantastic, 5-star match on RAW, or win a match that you wouldn’t expect them to win and then on SmackDown they’re losing clean to a “lesser” talent. The inconsistent, 50/50 booking doesn’t do anything for anyone and to be honest… it doesn’t make any sense!
The final piece to this puzzle is WWE’s non-committal attitude toward new stars. When a new “star” is make, WWE won’t protect them; they’ll feed them to an established name that doesn’t help anyone. Bray Wyatt and Rusev are two recent and prime examples of this; King Barrett is also an recent example of this. They need to let new stars go over the established stars and not vice versa. Allowing the newer, lesser established stars go over on well-known names not going helps the product, but it gets these guys over with the fans. It’s that simple!
The damage has been done to the current corp of guys on the main roster, but there is still hope! With the next wave of NXT stars and if WWE really wants to make their product better, they need to correct these issues… and fast.
