UFC Heavyweight Contender Mark Hunt has filed a civil lawsuit against Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC President Dana White & his UFC 200 opponent Brock Lesnar. The lawsuit stems from Brock Lesnar’s failed USADA test that was revealed just days after Hunt’s decisive 3 round decision loss to The Beast Incarnate.
At present time, Mark Hunt is scheduled to fight Alistar Overeem at UFC 209 in March. However, this lawsuit filed yesterday in the Nevada District Court could play a role in his upcoming showdown with Overeem.
Hunt had this to say to ESPN:
“I want the UFC to understand it’s not OK to keep doing what they’re doing. They’re allowing guys to do this. They had a chance to take all the money from this guy, because he’s a cheater, and they didn’t.
What message is that sending to the boys and girls who want to be a fighter someday? The message is, ‘You just have to cheat like this and it’s OK.’ In society, if you commit a crime, you pay.
Why is it different in MMA? It’s hurt the business, so it’s even worse. They need to be held accountable for this.”
As noted last week, Brock Lesnar was suspended for one-year by USADA & the UFC for his use of a banned substance prior to his fight with Hunt. He was also fined $250,000 of his $2,500,000 fight purse. The result of the fight was also overturned to a no-contest.
