For several months, there has been speculation about WWE putting together a women’s version of the famous Royal Rumble match. Several credible sources have come forward with different reports on this for weeks now, and the conflicting reports continue.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is not currently planning a women’s Royal Rumble match, but stated that the conversation has been had over the last few months within WWE creative.

But according to the U.K. Sun, WWE is currently in the process of putting the match together and plans to announce the historic match soon. The Sun cites that the recent influx of women on both Raw and SmackDown LIVE is WWE laying the groundwork for the first ever WWE women’s Royal Rumble match, which has been rumored to consist of 20 women total.

Both sources are seen as (somewhat) credible, which has many within the wrestling community confused as to what exactly WWE is planning… or not planning. Take both reports with a grain of salt.
