PWP Nation’s Stephen Ajamie pays respect to the Dudley Boyz and proposes a plan on how to book them going forward in WWE.

When you think of a revolution going on in WWE right now, you think immediately of the so called, “Divas Revolution”, right? But what about another one that might be flying under the radar, and in this case, is the right way to go about it. The tag team division is enjoying it’s own revolution of sorts.

Where would you begin with why the tag team division has experienced its own revolution? One might begin with The New Day.

There’s little doubt that the New Day has upped the ante of what makes a tag team enjoyable. The evolution of The New Day has taken an odd turn, as they first came together as an over-the-top babyface tag team trio that the crowd wasn’t buying for one second. It was greatly rejected since it wasn’t the Nation of Domination 2.0 that some were clamoring for. No worries in that because The New Day kept going and going with their own thing until it seemingly turned into gold out of nowhere.

But The New Day aren’t the only ones responsible for a revolution happening in the tag team division. There’s this old tag team that has had incredible waves in the division. Think tables. Think Dudleyville. Think half brothers. That’s right, the Dudley Boys, in my humble opinion, deserve that recognition for firing up the tag team division. At least for me, they’re the reason why I am typing up this article. From that moment that Bubba Ray showed up in the Rumble, I knew WWE had to get the Dudley Boys back in action to save this tag team division. They needed to bring in this team to tie it all together and let other teams build along with them.

Looking at the Dudley Boys though, there’s a question as to what there run in WWE will look and be like. Well, I have an idea for what WWE should do. Let’s take a look at that path:

Right now, it doesn’t make sense for New Day to drop the titles to the Dudley Boys at WWE Night of Champions, but there’s definitely going to be a tag team title run for them in the near future. Where do you book the Dudley Boys to win those tag team titles?

That’s an easy answer as I see the Dudley Boys winning the tag team titles in a ladder match at Tables, Ladders, and Chairs in December. I think you’ll probably have to include the Prime Time Players and/or the Lucha Dragons in this match as well, so you have a good plethora of talent to work whatever crazy spots you can throw together. Another possibility is the Royal Rumble or WWE Fastlane. This is where I see the Dudley Boys getting the tag team title run only for one team to be dominating along the way until we see that major encounter that was teased already this summer.

What encounter am I speaking about? Who is this dominating team that I think will take the titles off the Dudley Boys?

Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.

If you don’t remember, let me refresh your memory. Harper and Rowan had a VERY small series of matches, where they were using the Dudley Death Drop (3-D). Harper and Bubba Ray (then Bully Ray) had some words on Twitter about a possible match between the two teams. So what better way to get the titles off a team than with their own finisher? Now of course, Rowan could end up not aligning himself with The Wyatt Family when he returns, but in my booking, it has to happen. The seeds have been planted; it would be silly not to follow through.

No matter where you go with the Dudley Boys, I think this tag team division has been given some new life that it desperately needed. I can see that 10th title reign happening for the Dudley Boys, and they’ll definitely put over whatever team is going to be slated against them. That’s the best part about these guys; you know they’re in it to help the business. Even after their time in WWE, I can see both guys stepping into some coaching roles down in NXT or maybe even having a match or two against some up and coming team down there.

That’s what we expect out of veterans like D-Von and Bubba Ray, and I imagine they’ll be more than happy to help out where they can. Make sure you set a table for them wherever they might be.
