PWP Nation’s Caden Moran discusses why WWE needs to pull the trigger on one of their brightest stars, Rusev.

For many years in the WWE, foreign stars have come and gone. Guys like Bret “Hitman” Hart, Bruno Sammartino and Sheamus, have all reached high levels of success as foreigners. Now, WWE has a new foreign star on the rise. Rusev has been in the WWE for a few years now and has reached success as a two-time United States Champion but after failing to get past the mid-card scene, Rusev seems to be far from the world championship picture. However, many fans, including myself, believe Rusev can be a huge star in the main event if given the chance.

Rusev has been suffering ever since losing the United States Championship to Roman Reigns at WWE Clash Of Champions in 2016. Even being one of the more charismatic and entertaining guys on Monday Night RAW, Rusev still seems to lose all momentum after having a solid title run and if you don’t believe me, look what happened after he lost the United States Championship to John Cena in 2015.

Not only has Rusev lost momentum time after time again but he has been on the wrong side of WWE legends. Rusev has been Rock Bottomed, Stunned, Jackhammered and has now taken a Sweet Chin Music from Shawn Michaels… TWICE. Doing this has not only made Rusev look weak, but it has completely ruined his credibility.

And with all of that said, I believe Rusev can still be a top star in the WWE and all WWE has to do is pull the trigger.

Rusev is a fantastic heel and we all know this, but lately he has been having to play a confusing role of a heel defending his wife. Seriously, explain to me why Rusev is the heel because I think a man defending his wife’s honor from a weasel like Enzo Amore is more of a babyface role. But hey, I guess it’s because he isn’t American. Rusev is a tremendous heel and RAW is in need of a believable heel that can draw legitimate heat unlike Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho, who have now become fan favorites. If WWE kept up the anti-American shtick, imagine the heat Rusev would draw if he were to make it to the top of the mountain.

A Bulgarian World Champion? That is blasphemy to American fans.

Rusev’s character is already gold, but it is his impressive ring work that defines who Rusev is. With his mix of technical wrestling to his impressive agility, Rusev is a spectacle to watch when he is in a big match. However, even as Rusev is one of the most charismatic and fun guys and having amazing ring work and agility for a guy his size, Rusev has still yet to break through and reach new levels and honestly, I don’t understand why. If WWE wants to pull the trigger with Rusev (which they need to), I have an idea of how they should unleash the Bulgarian Brute and have Rusev finally reach the top of the WWE mountain.

With the help of Lana, Rusev already has the perfect manager to control his actions and order him what to do. Remember how Paul Bearer would control Kane and The Undertaker? In this case, have Lana be Rusev’s Paul Bearer. Lana has once told Rusev what to do with the phrase, “CRUSH!” If WWE went back to that time of Rusev’s career of having him be the brutal and destructive heel that listens to Lana’s orders, WWE can have a major star. Rusev needs to have zero limits on what he does and who he goes after. If WWE can be smart enough to execute what I just said, Rusev can be one of the hottest stars in WWE.

Rusev is one of my personal favorites in WWE today and seeing how he has been treated and used has been terrible to watch. However, WWE must pull the trigger on a Rusev run because he is not only very charismatic and entertaining, but he has tremendous ring work and already has the catalyst to help boost his run, Lana.

Please WWE, if you want more people to tune in week in and week out, Rusev can help with that. He is a strong heel, a strong talent and has a strong future regardless of what WWE decides.
